This is by far my favorite post workout shake. The goal of your post workout smoothie or shake is to aide the body in recovery, so a good ratio of 3:1 carbohydrates to protein is what you’re aiming for. I am always adding a few little extras that I may have, so in this one, I added chia seeds and bee pollen. Why? Because both are excellent sources of essential vitamins and minerals that we need, so this is an easy way to get them in my day. If you’re really in a hurry or don’t have a blender handy, get yourself a blender bottle and mix a high quality protein powder in with almond milk, water or 2% milk.
Chocolate Banana Protein Shake
1 scoop Chocolate protein powder
1.5 cups Unsweetened Almond Milk
1 teaspoon Bee pollen
1 teaspoon Chia seeds
What I love most about shakes and smoothies is that you can tweek them to your preferences. Don’t like almond milk, find another substitute that you like. Remember the goal is the 3:1 ratio, so you can add or subtract any of the ingredients to get you there. Happy smoothie making!
